When working with employers or economic immigrants, it is important to recognize the value of intercultural training and local orientation in order to improve settlement and retention of newcomers. This means developing an intentional plan to ensure that; employers are prepared for some of the differences when working with global talent and can plan accordingly, newcomers are aware of the culture of work in Canada, employer expectations and the differences from work in their home country, newcomers are aware of the settlement sector and cultural resources in the local community which can support their retention.
