About Us
At Local Immigration Solutions, we are more than just applications and forms. Life in a new country can be extremely disorienting for a newcomer, they have left friends and social networks in home country and can therefore be an isolating experience. One needs to develop an intentional plan so that sponsors are aware of the challenges often facing family class immigrants and can prepare accordingly, sponsors are aware of the resources/supports in their community to help new arrivals.
Education, Experience and a Passion for Immigration
All of my professional employment has been in the settlement sector. I have worked for Immigrant Services Guelph-Wellington and the Guelph-Wellington Local Immigration Partnership Project. My roles have ranged from organizing the only large-scale immigration focused symposium held in Guelph-Wellington, which focused on improving settlement services for newcomers, to researching the social, cultural and economic challenges facing immigrants in Guelph-Wellington and developing program recommendations. I have also been a volunteer for the Guelph and District Multicultural Festival and currently serve as the President of the Board of Directors of Immigrant Services Guelph-Wellington. This time in the settlement sector has provided a deep understanding of they types of programs and services that aid newcomer’s social and cultural integration in Canada. I also have a personal connection to family class immigration. My parents have sponsored many of our relatives from the Philippines, who in turn have sponsored other family members. I have seen first hand the challenges of the sponsorship process and later the hardships facing parents, grandparents, children and spouses when they are re-united in Canada. I want to draw on my professional, volunteer and personal experiences to help my clients reduce these challenges and ensure a smooth family reunification in Canada.

My parents are both immigrants and over the years have helped many family members start a new life in Canada. I have watched family members struggle with immigration consultants, settlement and support. I want to give newcomers a better chance of a successful application so they can begin a new life in Canada.
